Yom Kippur: Supporting the Spiritual Needs of Our Clients

At Familiar Roads Home Healthcare, we believe in honoring the whole person— mind, body, and spirit. On Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement, we extend heartfelt support to our clients and families who observe this sacred day.

What Is Yom Kippur?

Yom Kippur is the holiest day of the Jewish calendar. It involves:
• A 25-hour fast
• Reflection, prayer, and repentance
• Lighting of memorial candles for loved ones
• Time spent in synagogue or personal reflection

How We Respect Spiritual Traditions

Our caregivers are trained to:
• Support clients in fasting (if medically appropriate)
• Ensure quiet, peaceful environments
• Help with livestreamed or in-home prayer services
• Prepare homes respectfully (turning off electronics, etc.)

Faith is Healing

Spiritual comfort can provide enormous emotional strength. Whether it’s honoring religious practices, offering silence, or simply being present, our care plans respect diverse cultural and faith traditions.

G’mar Chatimah Tovah to all observing. May you be sealed for a good year.
